Client Brief
Following the massive flooding to the River Thames in 2014, MHA were approached by the owners of a Grade 2 listed property which had been badly affected from the backflow of a main Thames Water sewer back flowing into their property as a result of the saturated ground within the area.
Key Issues
- Grade 2 Listed Property
- Flood Damage / Sewage Contamination
- Rectification works to minimise likelihood of repeat flooding.
What We Did
The damage was extensive with all ground floor rooms affected, initial stripping out had been undertaken but MHA had to compile a full specification of works including upgrading certain areas with respect to future proofing the building as much as possible against future flooding.
In addition to the liaison with the loss adjuster, the client was a retired architect who insisted on works being undertaken in sympathy with the original building fabric.
The works were specified, tendered and monitored to completion, the clients were able to move back into the property at the allotted time.
